Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a therapeutic approach designed for young children and caregivers who have experienced one or more traumatic events. CPP is rooted in attachment theory and integrates components of psychodynamic, developmental, trauma-informed, social learning, and cognitive behavioral practices. Because you are the most important person in your child’s life, CPP holds the child-caregiver relationship at the center of treatment. Caregivers’ involvement in treatment is a primary predictor of your child and family’s healing. CPP focuses on enhancing the caregiver-child bond, promoting the child's overall well-being, and honoring the values of both family and culture.
