Attachment, Regulation, and
Competency

The Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework is built upon a foundation rooted in four critical domains—normative childhood development, traumatic stress, attachment theory, and risk and resilience. ARC identifies essential skills and competencies crucially impacted by traumatic stress and attachment disruptions. Addressing these areas proactively within the framework fosters resilience and positive outcomes for children and caregivers.
It is important to note that while the ARC framework was developed for children impacted by complex trauma and their caregiving systems, the benefits of this flexible approach have been observed across a variety of systems, settings, and diagnoses.
